Baby Gift

So my dear friends had their first baby last year...and the year has flown by. Doesn't it always? I thought a little gift of highlights from the baby's birth would make an appropriate tribute to all the changes and magical moments that have occurred since that day. Covers were cut from cardboard and the pages are chipboard covered in paper.

Father's Day

Inspired by a gift that my SIL gave us, this is a simple Michaels frame (they have a really nice selection, and best thing...40% off). Pictures are from our recent first family camping trip to Pacific City, and rub-ons.

Spring Time

A while back, I made some door hangers for the boys. The snowman ones from this post. Well, Spring has sprung (and Daddy stored the winter decor away) so it was time to make a new door hanger. Got this particle board hanger from Michael's (love that place). Glued on some paper. Stuck on some letters. Added some ribbon. And here you have it. E's new door hanger. I'll try to get one done for L tomorrow. We'll see how that pans out.

Cutie Pie

Okay, I know. I'm way behind. But, I get to this stuff whenever I can. This weekend, I did. The layout is from a day last fall when I met the boys at a new park during my lunch hour. It was lovely. We planned for it and took little sandwich bags of bread to feed the ducks. I love this guy's little face.

Fun with Patches

So E is a pretty active four-year old. However, I didn't realize how very quickly a pair of jeans could be worn down by such na active child. He must do nothing but crawl around all day! Nevertheless, I bought some Dritz iron-on patches from Joann's and pieced this together. Clothes-wise, I don't think that there is a lot of "cute" stuff for boys out there, but I have to say that I thought these jeans are now pretty darn cute! Man, I love being off work for a few days.

Other Explosion Boxes

I hosted an Explosion Box workshop and took pictures of their creations too! The top one was created with Close to my Heart Level 2 Paper Pack Even Song. I added this one so you could see how the box looks without pictures on it. The middle box was made with CTMH Level 2 Paper Pack Vintage Travel (it was made by my friend Leanne) and the bottom one is with Whoops-A-Daisy (made by my friend Julie).

Explosion Box

Here is a picture of the box all put together.
Here are the different layers. Layer #3.
This particular style of explosion box is a 3 layer box. Layer #3 folded up to reveal layer #2.
Layers #3 and #2 folded up to reveal layer #1.

Directions and supplies:
SUPPLIES:
4 pieces of coordinating cardstock
variety of coordinating pattern paper
variety of coordinating embellishments
Paper cutter
Paper scoring tool
Adhesive
4 photos 3 5/8 x 3 5/8 for the first layer
4 photos 3 1/4 x 3 5/8 for the second layer
4 photos 2 3/4 x 3 5/8 for the last layer
1 photo 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 for the center

DIRECTIONS:
1. Use a 12x12 cardstock and score 4" from each side giving you 9 4x4 scored squares.
Cut 4" down on the scored line on the right, rotate 90 degrees and repeat, do this until you have a 4" cut on the top right corner of each side

2. Pre-cut paper to 11 1/2 by 11 1/2 and score 4" from each side.
Cut and remove the 4 corners.

3. Pre-cut cardstock to 11x11 and score 4" from each side.
Cut and remove the 4 corners.

For the lid you would cut the cardstock to 8 1/8 x 8 1/8 and score 2" all around. Score corners and fold in triangles glue together and voila!

For assembly you simply take layer #2 and put it on top of layer #1. You're only going to glue the center of #2 to #1. Next you take layer #3 and put it on top of layer #2 and only glue the center of #2 on to #3. Layer #3 is going to be the layer that has the 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 picture in the center.

Decorate each layer the way you would decorate the matting on a scrapbook page. Try to coordinate the paper with the cardstock and your photos. I used a Level 2 Paper Pack from Close to my Heart called Silhouette and then printed the photos in Sepia.
